A group of pro-Duterte supporters online admitted they have taken and compiled videos of Davao bombing from different unknown sources.

PHILIPPINES—The compiled ‘live footages’ on the Davao bombing the night of September 2 (Friday) came from various Facebook posts, Duterteism told The Quintessence in an exclusive interview yesterday.

After an explosion on a night market at Davao City which caused 14 fatalities and injured at least 60 people, a number of concerned posts on different social media sites quickly spread.

One of those was Duterte in Social Media, publicly known as ‘Duterteism.’ The pro-Duterte account published a compilation of videos on YouTube, broadcasting actual scenes during the accident. The post quickly gathered more than a hundred thousand views, and a couple of reactions and comments from the netizens, expressing their sympathy for the victims and anger for the suspected culprits. However, there were also comments which disapproved the live footages showing wounded and bloodshed victims.

On September 3, the account published another video with a disclaimer warning viewers that it has ’graphic disturbing’ content.

“Nakalimutan ko na po ang original source ng mga video. Dami na po kasi nag-share bago ko ‘to na-upload. Halos lahat sa FB po galing. Kinompile ko nalang po lahat ng mga napanuod ko (I already forgot the original source of the videos. Those were already shared by many people before I even get to upload it. Almost all the videos were taken from Facebook. I just compiled everything I’ve watched),” said a representative of Duterteism who refused to be named.

The video post also drew arguments between Duterte’s supporters and critics, bringing up names of alleged criminals, including politicians to blame.

While there is still no clear motive behind the bombing, the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson advised people to avoid reckless speculations.

Unlike the original post, the second live footage published only received 50,371 views, but has still engaged a number of people to draft conclusions. Along with the video post was the statement of Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, cited on the caption.
